Roman Miroshnichenko
virtuoso guitarist and his fusion style
(Moscow)
|
Born in 1977, Roman started playing guitar when he was 14. Being a 17-years old student of the Dnepropetrovsky University he began to play in jazz clubs.
In 1999 Roman entered Koln High School of Music and performed in German jazz clubs. This very year he met a leading Russian jazz player Sergey Manukian at the Dnepropetrovsk jazz festival. Manukian advised Roman that he should move to Moscow.
In 2000 Roman Miroshnichenko became a 4-th grade student of the Moscow State University of Culture and Art.
In November 2000 Roman became a laureate of "Moscow - 2000" jazz festival. In Spring 2001 Roman's creative work was featured in a 30-minutes program " Night VJ" on Daryal-TV channel.
In Summer 2001 Roman and his group "Latino Guys" successfully took part in the II International Latin-American Music Festival " Viva La Fiesta Latina" in Moscow.
Shortly after that a new group - "Roman Miroshnichenko Project" was formed. Now it is actively playing on tours in Russia and abroad. The debut of this project took place in November 2001 at the "Boheme Music" international guitar music festival and was very well accepted. In 2003 the project was included into the program of "Jazz Kaar" international jazz festival in Estonia where Miroshnichenko presented his new program "Double Concerto". The public was so enthusiastic that the musicians had to play one hour and a half or so instead of the planned 40 minutes. This year the group's performance was also warmly accepted by the public at the well- known international guitar music festival "Guitar World 2003" in
Kaluga.
In 2001 Roman met Al Di Meola. Di Meola was on a tour in Moscow and after one of his concerts there was a jam session of the great master with his young follower (these were the Maestro`s own words). In 2001 Roman also played with Ernie Adams, Gumbi Ortiz, Mario Parmisano, Gilad, JD Walter.
In 2002 one of Roman's compositions was included into CD collection "The best guitarists of Russia", based on the monitoring held by the Music Box magazine.
In April 2003 Roman worked with the Dutch jazz star, trumpet-player Saskia Laroo.
In May he performed in Moscow International House of Music during "Jazz on the Red Hills" festival and took part in the V International festival "Boheme Jazz" which was held on the stage of "Rossia" Concert Hall. John Scofield, Tanya Maria, Cesaria Evora were among the participants. At the festival Roman played in the "New Generation" project of
Igor Bril, a People's Artist of Russia, where Bril's two
sons, Dmitri and Alexander
and a well-known contrabass player Yuri Golubev were also participating.
Roman actively cooperates with Leonid
Vinzkevich, an Honoured Artist of Russia and his son Nikolai. He has taken part in recording of their solo CD. Miroshnichenko works a lot not only performing on stage, but also recording music in studio. He has recorded a substantial number of guitar tracks for Russian pop-music stars as well as sound tracks for movies and for TV- and radio advertising clips.
Roman has worked out his own teaching method and gives lessons to beginners and to advanced guitar players.
In Miroshnichenko's playing style one can feel distinct influence of the greatest masters of guitar - such as Al Di Meola, John Mclaughlin, Paco De Lucia, Django Reinkhard. Roman's efforts to combine various trends of the modern musical improvisations with different nations' folklore music come as a pleasant surprise.
Roman's distinctive features are lively melodiousness, deep knowledge of different styles, masterly passages and the unique sounding of his Ovation AD5 guitar (Custom Legend Signature Model Al Di Meola) with Roland guitar
synthesizers.
